Earlier this month, several School of the Arts alumni were awarded prestigious MacDowell Fellowships. The honor grants recipients exclusive access to a private studio, accommodations, and three daily meals for a period of two to six weeks to focus on their artistic projects. This selection came from the second-largest group of applicants in MacDowell's history, with 154 artists from around the world.
This year's fellows include Visual Arts alumni Yixuan Wu '22 and Nancy Cohen '84; Playwriting alumni Luz Lorenzana Twigg '23, Daaimah Mubashshir '15, and Sam Grabiner '21; and Writing alumni Jared Jackson '20 and Abby Santamaria '04.
“The incoming group showcases the wonderfully diverse and immensely creative artists that have been a feature of the MacDowell culture for several years now,” said Executive Director Chiwoniso Kaitano in a statement. “In continuing our legacy of awarding Fellowships to some of the world’s most innovative and original minds and art makers, we are welcoming a remarkable group of artists this autumn and winter and hope they find the quiet, inspiration, and community that has worked its magic for so many others in the past. This is a group we anticipate will be leaving their own indelible marks on world culture for years to come.”
