Acting alumna Laura Campbell ’08 is currently starring in an innovative new performance piece, Molly Bloom: Redux.

In partnership with the Contemporary Irish Arts Center of Los Angeles, The Limbic Arthouse presents this new theatrical performance of the 18th chapter of Ulysses. The performance comes in time for the 2023 celebration of Bloomsday, the annual day dedicated to the commemoration and celebration of the Irish writer James Joyce.

Molly Bloom: Redux offers a new interpretation of the iconic material:

“For the last 100 years, the passionate critiques of Molly Bloom and her unpunctuated ‘8 sentences’ have shown us more about who we are as a society than any truth about the woman herself,” reads the show's description. “Each decade seems to have a different take on Mrs. Bloom. Prostitute? Slut? Feminist Icon? The definitions of her change as societal norms ebb and flow. By bringing Molly to life on stage in 2023 we hope to show her off in all her humanity and hold that mirror back up to ourselves to ask ‘who are we now’?”

The show utilizes a combination of live performance, film, and literature for an experience unlike any other. Former Adjunct Film Professor Bradford Barnes is the director of this unique performance piece.

Performances will be held at the Limbic Arthouse in Hollywood, CA, June 16-23, 2023.

Tickets for the show are available here.
