Ken Kristensen '08 Writes for New Apple TV Series 'Shantaram'

Alumnus Ken Kristensen ‘08 has writing credit on Shantaram, a new series that premiered on Apple TV+ on October 28.

Kristensen served as a writer for season 1 episode 12 titled #1.12, and wrote the teleplay for season 1 episode 5 titled The Sin in the Crime. 

Based on the internationally best-selling novel by Gregory David Roberts, Shantaram follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Charlie Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.

The first three episodes are available to stream on Apple TV+ now, and new episodes drop every Friday.

Ken Kristensen is a Los Angeles-based writer/producer. He currently writes the Marvel/Netflix TV series The Punisher and the SyFy series Happy! In the past few years he has developed pilots at HBO, FX, A&E, Spike, and Pivot. Ken received an MFA in Film from Columbia University. He is the recipient of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting and an alum of the Sundance Lab.
