It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, which was assistant-edited by Film alum Sushant Chaudhary '21, has been nominated for the American Cinema Editors’ Eddie Award for Best Edited Documentary Feature. The Eddies are awarded annually by the American Cinema Editors society, celebrating the best editing in television and feature film. Having been held since 1951, the Eddies are one of the longest-running awards in the entertainment industry, and are looked to as a barometer for Oscar and Emmy success.

The film, which has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, tells the story of music-icon Jeff Buckley, showcasing, as the logline states, "never-before-seen footage, exclusive voice messages, and accounts from Jeff Buckley's inner circle." These moments "paint a captivating portrait of the gifted musician who died tragically in 1997, having only released one album." It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley is available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and HBO.

The documentary made its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. In a post on his Instagram, Chaudhary remarked that, "Buckley’s music had an inexplicable influence on my brooding teen years and instantly assimilated into my aesthetic bedrock. I never quite unraveled the why and the what of it until working on this film. That impact slowly began to magnify as I grokked the human behind the persona with retrospective intimacy." Of the team he shared, "Such a special privilege to have been a part of the editorial team that crafted this compassionate portrait of a singular artist," describing it as a, "tremendous experience."

Chaudhary is an Indian film editor based in Los Angeles by way of New York, where he completed his MFA in Directing at Columbia University. His directorial/editorial work has screened at festivals in Atlanta, Berlin, Lebu, Miami, Montreal, Munich, Stockholm, and elsewhere. His work as additional and assistant editor includes documentary features that have premiered at Sundance, SXSW and streamed on Netflix, Hulu, ABC, and PBS. A forthcoming narrative editorial project is a science-fiction IMAX feature at Warner Bros. and Bad Robot, slated for release later this year. In Fall 2022, Sushant was selected as an Honorary Intern at American Cinema Editors and is currently an Affiliate Member. Previously, he worked as a contractual editor in Mumbai and completed his Bachelors in Media Studies at Symbiosis International University. Sushant is a J.N. Tata Scholar and a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.
