Acting alumnus Isaiah Dòdó-Williams ’22 will star in ABC’s single camera comedy pilot, Public Defenders. The pilot was written by Eddie Quintana and will be directed by Randall Einhorn.

Public Defenders follows the stories of four inexperienced public defenders working tirelessly to keep their clients out of prison. While tackling student loan debt, navigating their first defendants and the absurd court system, and constantly repairing a jammed copy machine, the young lawyers have to learn how to rely on one another.

Dòdó-Williams plays Ray, a brilliant, albeit self-conscious recent graduate of a top-tier law school who remains the perpetual underdog. He loves his job and his coworkers, but struggles to manage his life outside of work. Other cast members include: Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Erika Henningsen (Mean Girls Broadway), Arturo Castro (Narcos), Kimrie Lewis (Kenan), and Natasha Lopez (The Time Traveller’s Wife).

Isaiah Dòdó-Williams is a Nigerian-American actor. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, he immigrated to the United States at age six with his parents and three older siblings after his parents won the diversity visa lottery. Dòdó-Williams earned his BA in Acting from California State University San Bernardino. While at Columbia, he performed in productions of A Raisin in the Sun, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Three Sisters, Seven Guitars, New World Radio, My Children My Africa, Hedda Gabler, and Dance Nation, among others.

Public Defenders is still awaiting an official release date.
