Columbia Filmmakers will be represented at the Daytime Emmy Awards, the most important accolade for daytime television, by Alumnus Frank Angones ’10 and Alumna Suzi Yoonesi ’06.
Angones worked as a co-producer and story editor for the Disney XD special "Woo-oo!", which is nominated for Oustanding Special Class Animated Program.
Woo-oo! is part of the DuckTales Series: one of the most beloved animated shows in television.
Based on the 1987 Walt Disney series and the character creations of Disney Legend Carl Banks, DuckTales picks up on the adventures of Scrooge McDuck, his nephew Donald, and Scrooge’s trouble-making grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Other classic characters, including butler-chauffeur Duckworth, chicken inventor Gyro Gearloose, and vampy sorceress/LGBT icon Magica De Spell also make appearances.
Angones collaborated with Alumni Bob Snow '10 and Christian Magalhaes '10 who worked as staff writers on the show.
The original version of the DuckTales aired in 1987 and it was praised by both the public and the critics. Now, it made its return to the small screen with a forty-five-minute episode entitled "Woo-oo!". It was received as one of the animated sensations of the season. Indiwire called it a "triumphant return to TV".
