Acting alum Dave Register '15 is back in the second season of the Amazon Prime series Fallout, which premiered December 17 with new episodes coming out until mid-February. Register, who plays the role of Chet, was also a part of the first season and is slated to be part of the third season as well.

Fallout, created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, is a drama depicting the fallout of The Great War of 2077, an apocalyptic nuclear war between the United States and China. The show takes place in an alternative universe where the conclusion of World War II led inhabitants of Earth to live in fallout bunkers.

The series starts in the year 2296, when a young woman named Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, leaves her home—journeying through a wasteland of what was formerly Los Angeles—to reconnect with her father played by Kyle MacLachlan. The cast also features Walton Goggins and Justin Theroux. Season 2 follows Lucy as she embarks on a journey to Las Vegas to confront Goggin’s character, Cooper Howard. Register’s character is Lucy's cousin, who helps Lucy to leave Vault 33, her home, to find her father. On playing Chet, Register says, "Before playing Chet I had a history of playing these sort of deplorable men on tv—men who get punched or arrested. Chet is ultimately a clown figure, which is much closer to who I am as a person. Silly, broad, one or two steps behind everyone else."

Since graduating from the School of the Arts, Register has accrued a hardy list of acting credits. His Broadway credits include the original ensemble of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, and Fritz in Tom Stoppard’s final play Leopoldstadt. Register played the role of Rodolpho in Ivo Van Hove’s revival of View From A Bride at The Kennedy Center. In 2023, he originated the role of Mr. Carter Smith in Kimberly Bellflower’s John Proctor Is the Villain also in Washington DC. "Theater has afforded me more unique, diversified opportunities," Register says, "I've had the great fortune of wearing a number of different hats and honing different sides of my performing self on stage." Register’s film credits include Heighted (2023), The Witch Files ( 2017), and The Price (2017). Register has also acted on the second season of Epix’s Graves as well as Madam Secretary

Register founded The Portland Theater Festival in 2021, partially as a means to create directing and acting opportunities for himself. "If others aren't giving you the opportunities you yearn for, find a way to create them for yourself," he said. Today, Register serves as the Artistic Director for the annual summer festival that stages productions of mostly contemporary plays in nontraditional spaces. The Festival is "Guided by the belief that good stories can change minds and hearts. Portland Theater Festival showcases work that doesn't just reflect the times, but helps offer a way through them." Pastproductions include plays like Annie Baker’s The Aliens and Body Awareness, Martyna Majok’s Sanctuary City, Hansol Jung’s Wolf Play, and Abe Kooler’s Deep Blue Sound
