Writing alum Anika Jade Levy '23 has published her debut novel, Flat Earth, earlier this month with Catapult Books.
The novel follows Avery, a New York City grad student struggling financially and emotionally. She dates older men for their status and takes on writing for a right-wing dating app while watching her wealthy best friend, Frances, drop out of grad school, get married, and still manages to finish a feature documentary. As the title suggests, conspiracies and contemporary tensions are integral to the novel’s unfolding.
Already, the novel has received attention from major media outlets. The New York Times said Flat Earth, “effectively portrays the psychology of young women who are chronically online.”
“Levy’s utterly original sendup of contemporary life seems destined to become a cult classic,” wrote Kirkus Reviews. Vogue recently interviewed Levy and highlighted seven books that inspired her writing.
Levy is a founding editor of Forever Magazine. She is a contributor at Playboy and her reporting has appeared in GQ, Nylon, and Interview.
