Alumni Spotlight: Winter Miller '03

September 09, 2014

The Alumni Spotlight is a place to hear from the School of the Arts alumni community about their journeys as artists and creators.

Winter Miller '03 is a founding member of the Obie-winning collective 13P. Her plays have been performed in New York City and nationwide. She leads writing workshops. Her new play is about the history of abortion.

Was there a specific faculty member or peer who especially inspired you while at the School of the Arts? If so, who and how?

Frank Pugliese and Evangeline Morphos were exceptional teachers; they gave generously of their time, they were smart, funny and really cared about sharing their knowledge of the craft. You knew that they were instructors because they loved teaching, not because it was a job at a prestigious university. They are the kind of people who open doors for students without being prompted but because they believe in the work their students' make.
