Alumna Ama Quo '18 Participates in Disney's Creative Talent Development & Inclusion Writing Program

Alumna Ama Quo '18 was chosen to participate in Disney's Creative Talent Development & Inclusion Writing Program. The one-year writing program, created in 1990 with the WGA West, offers advanced professional development with the primary goal of helping to secure participants’ first staffing assignment via Disney General Entertainment Content series with a nearly 100% hiring rate. Quo was one of eight recipients to be selected for the comedy writing program. 

In the framework of the program, Quo will serve as a writer’s assistant on the Amazon show Outer Range. The show follows a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness. 

Ama Quao is a first-generation African-American screenwriter based in New York by way of Tennessee. A 2012 graduate of Brown University, she has interned and worked at A24, Billions on Showtime, and Sweetbitter on Starz. She worked as a Writer’s Assistant on the Apple TV show Shining Girls. A 2017 MADE IN NEW YORK Fellowship Semi-Finalist and recipient of the 2017 Jesse Thompkins III Emerging Storyteller Award, her comedic writing seeks to expand the representation of women of color in film and TV.
