Adjunct Professor Rich Perello Produces Feature Film 'Quasi'

Adjunct Professor Rich Perello currently produces the feature film Quasi, a new comedy which offers a satirical look at the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The film, which will be directed by Kevin Heffernan, will be Perello’s eighth collaboration with the production company Broken Lizard and stars Adrianne Palicki. 

Quasi follows a hapless hunchback who only yearns for love, but finds himself in the middle of a murderous feud between the Pope and the King of France when each orders the hunchback to kill the other. The film is currently in production and will stream exclusively on Disney’s direct-to-consumer platforms as a Hulu Original in the US, on Star+ in Latin America, and on Disney+ in all other territories. At Columbia, Perello is set to teach the course “The Business of Television'' in the Spring 2022 semester.

Richard Perello has been producing studio and independent feature films, projects for network and premium television, and serving as an executive in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He has produced for Warner Bros under a 3 year term deal, Fox Searchlight, Paramount, Comedy Central, HBO, Netflix, Showtime, Amazon, AMC, A&E, Hulu, Nickelodeon, MTV, NBC Television, CNN, and Saturday Night Live. Perello's films have screened and garnered numerous awards at festivals worldwide including Sundance, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, and Cannes. Perello recently produced Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 2, having produced all of the Broken Lizard comedy group’s films, and is head of Broken Lizard Industries. As Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Production for Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, Perello oversees the production for all of Jigsaw’s film and television projects. He is an Executive Producer on numerous productions including Dirty Money, The Family, Salt Fat Acid Heat, and more.
