2nd Chance, a feature documentary film by Associate Professor Ramin Bahrani, will be available to stream on Showtime after a successful theatrical run this winter. The film premiered at Sundance in 2022 and was acquired by Showtime Documentary Films. Shortly after, Bahrani and his producers teamed up with Bleeker Street to organize a theatrical run for the film ahead of its television debut.

The film was released exclusively in New York and Los Angeles on December 2 and December 9, 2022, and continued its theatrical run through the winter season, expanding to other cities in the US.  Showtime will offer the documentary on air, on streaming and on demand for its subscribers in spring 2023.

2nd Chance tells the story of Richard Davis, the charming yet brash inventor of the modern-day bulletproof vest who shot himself 192 times to prove his product worked. His tale is an American story of guns, violence, lies and self-deception, as Davis saved thousands of lives while endangering exponentially more.

Bahrani is an award-winning Iranian American writer, director and producer. His films have premiered in Venice, Cannes, Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals. In 2010 legendary film critic Roger Ebert proclaimed Bahrani as “the director of the decade.” Bahrani has won numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a “Someone to Watch” Independent Spirit Award. Man Push Cart (2005) and Chop Shop (2007), Bahrani’s first two films, will be released by the Criterion Collection in February, and are available for pre-order now.
