Haleh Liza Gafori Leads Literary Seminar on Rumi | The Academy of American Poets presents a new, three-part literary seminar on the work and life of Rumi, led by poet, translator, and musician Haleh Liza Gafori. Gafori—translator of Rumi's Gold (NYRB Classics 2022) from the original Farsi and the first Iranian American female poet to translate Rumi’s ghazals into English—will discuss a selection of Rumi's poems, exploring recurring themes, such as divine love, the death of the ego, heartache, ecstasy, and liberation.
