Living & Learning Community
Immerse yourself in New York City's vibrant art scene and join a dynamic community of artists and writers in residence on Columbia's campus. Our Living and Learning Communities foster a collaborative environment to develop new ideas in multiple genres and media. Embark on a genre-defying journey by taking courses in screenwriting, fiction, playwriting, painting, photography, and printmaking, or focus on just one discipline. Whether you're developing a play, a poem, a painting, a film, a TV pilot, a short story, or devising a cross-genre work, Columbia University School of the Arts Summer Session in the City of New York will inspire you to develop new work.
The Arts in the Summer Living and Learning Community (LLC) provides students a unique holistic learning experience, offering the chance to study in the only Ivy League university in New York City while connecting with a cohort of like-minded peers.
Housing
Students have access to housing on Columbia University’s campus, where they can experience cultural and social engagement, a residential community with people from around the world, and the opportunity to live in New York City.
