The seminar zeroes in on the relationship between Hollywood and the Chinese film and media industry against the backdrop of an evolving Sino-US relation to tease out a cluster of issues concerning the politics, economy, and culture of transnational film and media practices. As it surveys a few milestone films of Sino-Hollywood collaboration and connection, it introduces students to foundational texts as well as current research topics concerning storytelling during the era of platforms and AI.
Columbia students do not need to apply, but they do need to register. All visiting students will need to apply to the School of Professional Studies and register upon acceptance.
