Acting Alumnus Matt Hurley ’12 performed in two hit television shows in 2019: HBO’s Succession and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Acting alumna Lori Laing ’17 performs in the new Classic Stage Company production of Dracula by Kate Hamill.

The third installment in the Woman in Language series took place at the Katherine Otto-Bernstein Screening Room at the Lenfest Centre for the Arts on January 31st at 7:00pm.

PEN America recently announced finalists for the 2020 PEN Literary Awards, and Xuan Juliana Wang '11, Professor Leslie Jamison, and Ruchika Tomar '12 are among them. More information on their work can be found below.

Acting alumnus Blaze Mancillas ’12 is the new host of Song Pop Live, a daily music trivia show available on all mobile devices in the USA and Canada.

ZORA, the online literary magazine devoted to publishing women of color, recently released the Zora Canon on its website listing the best books by African American women. Several books by Columbia writers were included on this impressive list.

La MaMa’s 58th season honored and celebrated the downtown theatre company’s founder Ellen Stewart by bringing back Professor Andrei Serban’s and Elizabeth Swados’ groundbreaking The Trojan Women Project in a production featuring Columbia alumni Kim Ima ’96, Julia Martin ’96, George Drance ’98, and La MaMa’s artistic director Mia Yoo ’98. 

Professor Lynn Nottage won London’s Evening Standard Award for Best Play, for her play Sweat.

Alumna Jacqueline Nwabueze ’19 was cast in The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit production of Measure for Measure.
