Hello students,

It’s been wonderful to get back into production these last several weeks, between exercise work, project-level films heading into principal photography, and everyone’s Thesis-level plans in preparation for the Production Grant deadline.

As usual, actual production helps us to clarify policies & refine communication, so wanted to share the below with everyone as you continue production work:

1) Thesis-level Productions: Principal Photography deadlines for May & October graduation

The principal photography deadlines for May and October graduation are a little later this year than in previous years. May 2021: Principal Photography must be completed by April 19. October 2021: Principal Photography must be completed by August 13. Please see Thesis-level Production Policies for the full grid.

2) Phase 2 Protocols - CCO Exception Clarification

Many of you have been using the CCO Exception for production work. Two notes: the CCO Exception ONLY applies to privately controlled, owned/rented residential space. If you take your “pod” into public space, you must have a CCO (the “pod”/bubble concept is no longer applicable in public). Second, you can absolutely use the CCO Exception across 2 households, as long as the three basic conditions apply. Please see full details on the Protocols page, with updated language to reflect these two notes.

3) OneBeacon is now Intact

Branding thing. From now on, when we refer to “Intact,” it’s the same as when we said “OB” or “OneBeacon."

4) Reminder: No pets on set!

For those of you shooting at home, please note that “Animals" continues to be a High Risk Activity that requires Intact approval. This applies to all productions, including residences with pets. For these locations, the owner must sequester the pet from all cast/crew for the entire time you are shooting on location. The alternative to sequestering your pet in a separate space in the location would be a pet day care facility.

5) Production PAB Deadlines/Production Lead Time

Generally, it takes at least 4-8 weeks to go through the PAB & Final RiSC process. As production ramps up, and the holiday season settles in, this lead time is even more important. Please do not wait until the last minute! We can only guarantee approvals in time for production for PAB processes that begin 4-8 weeks prior to principal photography. & of course, 8 weeks is better than 4. Please plan ahead & keep us in the loop!

Please let me or Ann know if you have any questions about the above.
