Production Policy Update - Grants - 2021 Production Grants check-in, & Open Q&A
Hi All!
It’s officially one month until the Production Grant deadline of January 4, 2021 (4pm)! Please keep the questions coming as you continue to prep your applications.
For those who prefer a group setting, I’ll be holding an “Open Q&A” next Weds, 12/9, 8am EDT, where I plan to just do whatever is most useful to those who show up (can answer specific or general questions, go through my presentations again, etc). Zoom link:

Meeting ID: 945 3093 9557
Passcode: 769414
In the meantime, here’s a couple of heads up, and some FAQs I’ve been getting via email or office hours.
1) Sarah Jones Film Foundation Grant Update
For Producing Pool applicants, just a reminder that you’ll need to submit supplemental materials if you want to be considered for the $5K Sarah Jones Film Foundation Grant. The grant is only for safety expenses, which also includes PPE & testing. More details, and link to the supplement, are on the Sarah Jones Film Foundation Grant page.
2) Plan Z
Don’t forget to specifically answer the three questions for Plan Z! If you want to include more info, that’s fine, but the three questions should be specifically covered. You can find the Plan Z questions on the COVID Grant Qs & Updates page, or on the Directing Pool and Producing Pool pages (under the respective “To apply to the…” sections).
3) FAQ: Can I apply with a film that either may or will be my Virtual Thesis?
A: Yes! Please see the Eligibility section on the COVID Grant Qs & Updates page.
4) FAQ: Tromski, are you working over the holidays?
A: Yes! I mean, mostly. I’m out of the office Dec 24-25, and Dec 31-Jan 1, but otherwise in. I will likely have some hours on Sat, Jan 2, to answer last-minute questions. I’ll email about exactly when probably in mid-December/with my next Grants email reminder.

Hello All,
Next week, I will be holding three Info Sessions for Grants, based on grant applicant pool. All applicants are welcome to all sessions, which are scheduled in the early morning to try to accommodate as many students and time zones as possible. Each of the sessions will also be recorded and available for 7 days after the dates below.
Directing Pool Tuesday, October 20, 8-9am
Producing Pool Wednesday, October 21, at 8-9am
Sloan Pool Friday, October 23, at 8-9am
All sessions are at the same Zoom link.
To best prepare for the Info Sessions, please take a look at the links above, and a new Film Awards page dedicated to pandemic-related grant questions: COVID Grant Qs & Updates. Also happy to answer any individual questions, as always!

Hello everyone,
Welcome to October! As with every year, this month marks the start of the Production Grant season for Thesis-level films and preparation for the applications. This year, the 2021 Production Grant application is due Monday, January 4th, 2021.
We anticipate that 2021 Production Grants will be comparable to the funding available in previous years. This year’s application process will also be the same as usual, where everyone submits applications to concentration-based grant pools. Each pool will have a number of grants to select nominees or winners. The final announcement about grant winners will happen as soon as possible, but no later than March 5, 2021.
Ann and I will be holding Production Grant Info sessions later this month, but in the meantime, we’d like to encourage you to take a look at:
Application requirements and other details on the Directing/Screenwriting and Producing Production Grant pages
Thesis-level production policies, including principal photography deadlines for graduation
More soon, but please feel free to reach out to Ann or me at any time with individual questions.
Good luck to everyone this season,
Jenny
