Meghan Flaherty ’13 has been named a 2022 Ignite Fellow by the Scottish Book Trust.

The Ignite Fellowship recognizes the achievements of talented professional authors, offering practical and financial support for new projects. Meghan will be using the fellowship to work on her second book, a memoir about motherhood, memory, and the self––the stories we tell each other in order to live and how those narratives define us.

Of the fellowship, Meghan says, “I’m deeply honoured and delighted to be given the extra boost. It's been a pretty rough couple of years for all of us—writers, parents, writer parents. More than anything, this fellowship makes me feel less like I'm typing into a void. I hope it pulls me back into the world again, and that I can finally give this second book more of my thought and time.”

Meghan Flaherty is the author of Tango Lessons (Mariner Books, 2019), which Kirkus Reviews called "a vibrantly intelligent reading pleasure." She has an MFA from Columbia University in Literary Nonfiction and teaches at University of Glasgow.
