Class of 2021 Rescheduled First Year Show: Wallach Gallery

Load-In: March 15, 16
Curator Meetings: March 22, 23
Install: March 22-26; Lighting: March 26

Show Dates: March 27 – April 11

De-Install and Space Repair: April 12, 13
Last Day of Core Classes: June 14, 2021
Last Day to move out of studios: Monday, August 9, 2021

 

You may graduate on June 30, 2021, October 20, 2021 or February 9, 2022

  1. If you plan to graduate on June 30, you will hand in your Thesis Statement by June 7 and meet with your Thesis Committee between June 14-21.
  2. If you plan to graduate on October 20, you will need to hand in your Thesis Statement by September 27 and meet with your Thesis Committee between September 29 - October 8.
  3. To graduate on February 9, 2022, you will need to register for Thesis Completion for Fall 2022. Your Thesis Committee will take place with your exhibition. 
    1. (a)If you are in Show 1, you will need to hand in your Thesis Statement by September 27 and meet with your Thesis Committee between September 29 - October 8. 
    2. (b)If you are in Show 2, you will need to turn in your Thesis Statement by November 1 and meet with your Thesis Committee November 10-19.

 

Class of 2021 Thesis Show will be in the Fall of 2021 on 8th Floor of the Lenfest Building in two parts.   Dates are being confirmed and will be sent soon.

October Graduation

  • Degrees conferred: October 20, 2021
  • Last semester registered: Spring 2021
  • Columbia Housing: Please contact Columbia Residential
  • CU Health insurance terminates: August 14, 2021
  • International Students: Please be in touch with ISSO with OPT questions.
  • Participate in the Class of 2021 Exhibition in the Fall either in person or remotely

 

February 2022 Graduation; Thesis Completion for Fall 2021

Thesis Completion is a special registration status for School of the Arts students whose completion of their thesis was interrupted or deferred due to COVID-19. With the consent of their Concentration Head and Chair, MFA Visual Arts students who matriculated in 2019 may register for up to a maximum of one semester of Thesis Completion while they complete their Thesis Exhibition. 

  • Students deemed eligible to continue their program for an additional semester or year by registering for Thesis Completion will maintain full-time status.
  • Degrees conferred: February 9, 2022; Last semester registered: Fall 2021
  • Columbia Housing: Please contact Columbia Residential
  • International Students: Please be in touch with ISSO about OPT
  • Students must be registered continuously until graduation. SOA tuition and fees will be waived. University-wide fees cannot be waived.  NOTE: The Spring 2021 fees are listed below, and are subject to increase annually. (The University Services and Support Fee was decreased from $531 to $261 to reflect unique limited campus operations for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.  the medical insurance fee is more in the spring than the fall because it covers the summer months as well.)
    • Health Services Fee - $610
    • University Services and Support Fee - $261
    • Medical Insurance (can be waived with proof of equivalent coverage) - $2,276 
    • International Student Fee (if applicable) - $110
  • The University requirement to maintain health insurance cannot be waived. Students who wish to request a waiver from health insurance through the University must do so through Columbia Health. Waivers require proof of comparable insurance.
  • CU Health insurance terminates: December 31, 2020
  • Late payment and late registration fees will continue to be assessed.
  • Registration holds for balances from the previous semester over $999.99 will continue to be applied.
    • Scholarships, Loans, Service Positions, and Teaching Assistantships.:
      • Thesis Completion students are not eligible for SOA scholarship support.
      • With full-time status, US citizens and permanent residents will be able to access federal and institutional loan funding.
      • Students will not be eligible for Teaching Assistantships or service positions in the School of the Arts.
      • Students will remain eligible to apply for casual positions at the University as usual.
