Latif Askia Ba is a choreic poet from Brooklyn. Dancing in and out of various forms, he tries again and again to realize the music of the disabled body-mind-universe. He’s a poetry editor at Big Score. His newest collection, The Choreic Period (2025) was published by Milkweed Editions.

Emily Skillings is the author of the poetry collections Fort Not (2017) and Tantrums in Air (2025), both published by The Song Cave. She is the editor of Parallel Movement of the Hands: Five Unfinished Longer Works by John Ashbery (Ecco/HarperCollins, 2021). Skillings is a member of the Belladonna* Collaborative, a feminist poetry collective, small press, and event series. She lives in Brooklyn.

The New Books Reading Series celebrates recent work by members of the Writing Program community and explores how new books find their way into the world.
