Wancy Young Cho '10 is a Pushcart Prize nominee for short fiction, a Jack Straw Writing Fellow, and the recipient of a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Award for traditional fiction and a first-place Written Image Screenwriting Award for feature-length screenwriting. His stories and essays have appeared in The New Orleans Review, NBC’s THINK, The Stranger, Salon, and elsewhere.

Laura Jane Standley’s '14 writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The Believer, The Guardian, Thrillist, and American Contemporary Artist, among others. She's currently working on a memoir about growing up in Denver, in the late 1990s, during the first wave of the opioid epidemic.

Etan Nechin '19 is the New York correspondent for Haaretz newspaper, writing about culture, books, and politics. His other writing can be found in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, and more. Etan, along with Columbia alum Chris Molnar '18, edited Unpublishable: An Anthology of the Reading Series for Archway Editions.

What is Columbia Selects? Columbia Selects is an alumni reading series hosted by the Columbia MFA Writing Program. In recent years, many of our featured writers have achieved critical and commercial success. This is your chance to glimpse who you'll be reading in 2026!
