Columbia Selects at the KGB Bar! We are delighted to announce the return of Columbia Selects—our storied alumni reading series—to the KGB Bar for the 2025-26 season! 

Join us Thursday, February 5, 7 PM, for another stellar lineup:

Caroline Johnson '24 is a writer, visual artist, award-winning journalist, and educator with a passion for intergenerational and diasporic storytelling. She holds a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University, where she worked as an adjunct professor of fiction. She is a New Yorker of Jamaican descent whose work has been featured in Democrat and Chronicle, The Ithaca Journal, the Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage’s BlackInk, and at the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival. She is working on her first novel.

Originally from Hong Kong and Singapore, Ariel Joy So '23 is a writer whose work has appeared in Tupelo Quarterly, Foothill, and elsewhere. She is a finalist for the Sundress Prose Open Reading Period, 42 Miles Press Poetry Award, and Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prize. She holds an MFA from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Linda Corrente Prize. She has received support from the Mellon Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Community of Writers, Minnesota Northwoods Writers Conference, and Juniper Institute of UMass Amherst. www.arieljoyso.com

Eva Dunsky '21 is a writer, reader, teacher, and translator. She has a BA from Barnard College and an MFA in Fiction and Literary Translation from Columbia University, where she taught Academic Writing for International Students in the University Writing Program. Her fiction, reviews, and translations have been featured in Joyland, The Los Angeles Review, Bookforum, Pigeon Pages, and Asymptote, among others. She has recently completed her first novel, about a group of students at a women’s college who jokingly form a coven, only to come under attack for it by the internet’s most maladapted contingent.

What is Columbia Selects? Columbia Selects is an alumni reading series hosted by the Columbia MFA Writing Program. In recent years, many of our featured writers have achieved critical and commercial success. This is your chance to glimpse who you'll be reading in 2027!
