Please join us for our Alumni Poetry Reading series, featuring Simona Blat '16, Isabella DeSendi '17, Nathan Xavier Osorio '16, and Jimin Seo '10.

Simona Blat is the author of two chapbooks of poetry: Funeral (Pixel Press, 2018) and Élan Vital (Beautiful Days Press, 2024). Her fiction, essays, and interviews have appeared in Guernica, Bomb, and elsewhere. She is the owner of Black Spring Books, an independent used bookstore and literary social club in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where she lives with her cat Pushkin.

Isabella DeSendi is a Latina poet and educator whose debut poetry collection, Someone Else's Hunger, was recently published by Four Way Books. Her chapbook Through the New Body received the Poetry Society of America’s Chapbook Fellowship and was published in 2020. You can follow her @bellamdesendi. 

Nathan Xavier Osorio’s debut, Querida, won the 2024 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the California Book Award and the Norma Faber First Book Award. He was a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Irvine and is an assistant professor of Creative Writing at Texas Tech University. 

Jimin Seo is the author of OSSIA, winner of The Changes Book Prize judged by Louise Glück and winner of the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award, selected by Phillip B. Williams. He is also the author of and A-1982 (forthcoming). He is a visiting professor of English at Wesleyan University.

Registration

Guest Registration (those without a CUID) is required.

If you do not have an active CUID, you must email [email protected] at least 48 hours in advance of the event in order to register. Please specify which event you want to attend, and please include your name as it appears on your ID. The day before the event, you will receive an email with a QR code that you will have to present along with your ID in order to access campus.

Please note that if you have an active CUID, you do not need to register for this event.
