Anthony Weintraub

Anthony Weintraub is a screenwriter, producer, and director. Through A-Line Pictures, the company he launched in 2004 with Caroline Baron, he has produced and developed independent film and television, beginning with the Best Picture nominee Capote. Weintraub co-wrote and co-produced the 2019 feature Bel Canto from Ann Patchett's bestselling novel and most recently EP'ed the HBO documentary The Lion Queen. Earlier in his career, he wrote several of the short films that make up The Animatrix, as well as the adaptation of Taiyo Matsumoto's graphic novel Tekkonkinkreet, which won the Japanese Academy Award for best animated feature and was rereleased in 2026. His documentary work has focused on the art world, including Manifest Destiny, a portrait of painter Alexis Rockman's vision of the Brooklyn waterfront, and several short films on artists and artistic process. Weintraub also teaches screenwriting and producing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
