Visual Arts + Sound Art Application Requirements

All Visual Arts and Sound Art applicants submit Application Materials online via the online application system, and your Portfolio via SlideRoom

Visual Arts applicants must specify a Concentration (Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Moving Image, Expanded Practice | Sculpture) on your application, and this should be reflected in your Statement of Intent and Portfolio. If you are accepted into the Program, your Teaching Assistant assignments will be in your Concentration, and you will be able to take studio classes in any Concentration.

For Sound Art, basic technological fluency in working with sound as an artistic medium is expected prior to beginning the Program.

All Visual Arts and Sound Art applicants must submit the following:

  1. Statement of Intent: 1-2 pages. Please include your reasons for applying to the Visual Arts Program, relevant aspects of your artistic practice, any elements of your experience that help understand your artwork, and your work's place in contemporary art history.

  2. Resume: Detailing your academic career, artistic career, and professional accomplishments.

  3. Transcript/s from previous schools (please refer to the General Application Requirements for specific information).
