This cult classic, based on the Broadway hit of the same name, is an urban Wizard of Oz set and filmed in New York City.  Dorothy, a young and shy Black school teacher, is whisked away from her family’s Harlem home to a magical version of The Big Apple.  Dorothy wants to go home, but she and her new friends must follow the yellow brick road and face the fearsome Wicked Witch of the West, scary subway stations that come to life, flying motorcycle monkeys, and ultimately, the mysterious Wiz, along the way.
