A stretch of shoreline, a child wearing a ribboned straw hat. These were some of the images screened for the audience during “A ‘Toy Film’ History of Shōwa: The Second Sino-Japanese War, 1931–1945,” presented at the Lenfest Center for the Arts on September 17, 2023.
