Matt Fennell '18 Writes and Produces Apple+ Series 'Manhunt'

Adjunct Assistant Professor and Film alumnus Matt Fennell '18 is a co-producer and writer on the acclaimed new Apple+ series, Manhunt, created by Monica Beletsky (Fargo, Leftovers, Friday Night Lights). The series premiered to critical acclaim March 15, 2024. 

Manhunt is a historical fiction and conspiracy thriller, based on the book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson. Starring Tobias Menzies, the show follows Edwin Stanton as he delves into the aftermath of the first American presidential assassination. In doing so, the protagonist fights to preserve and protect the ideals that were the foundation of Lincoln's Reconstruction plans. 

Fennell is a film and television writer from Syracuse, NY. His writing credits include Showtime’s Billions and Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor, in addition to a decade of independent film production experience in Atlanta, New York City, and Europe. He received his Bachelors in Creative Writing from Emory University ’11 and his MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University.
