David Altmejd's ('01) Paris Retrospective

November 14, 2014

Flux, the first French retrospective of David Altmejd’s (’01) work is currently on display at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.

The exhibition includes new and old pieces by the Canadian-born artist, together with his most recent and ambitious, monumental sculpture, The Flux and The Puddle (2014) which won kudos after its debut at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York last February.

The exhibition takes the form of a work in its own right, with creatures and forms combined in a labyrinth that plays with the architecture of the museum. Altmejd currently lives in Queens, New York, where he produces the majority of his work.

Altmejd’s approach to sculpture is characterised by its wide variety of materials and a longstanding interest in the natural sciences and architecture.

Flux is on display at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, until February 1, 2015.
