Theatre Alumni Present Work at Middle Eastern MixFest

Alumni Kareem Fahmy '07, Pirronne Yousefzadeh '09, Peter Romano '15, and Melis Aker '18 will showcase their work at Atlantic Theater Company’s Middle Eastern MixFest, which will run through August 16th. The MixFest is a series of free readings co-curated by playwrights Mona Mansour and Heather Raffo.
Alumnus Kareem Fahmy will direct the play, Salim Salim, written by Stav Palti-Negev. The play will also feature Acting alumnus Peter Romano, and will showcase August 9th at 3pm.
Fahmy has written the plays, The In-Between, Pareidolia, an adaptation of Alaa Al Aswany’s novel, The Yacoubian Building, and The Triumphant.
Romano has most recently starred in Fucking A at Signature Theatre, Othello, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at Classic Stage Company.
Playwright alumna Melis Aker wrote Scraps and Things, which will appear under One Acts on August 13th at 7pm. Previously, Aker’s play, Manar, was a Finalist for Roundabout Theatre Company's 2017 Columbia @ Roundabout reading series and was presented at festivals throughout the U.S.
Alumna Pirronne Yousefzadeh will direct Scenes From 70 Years by Hannah Khalil on August 10 at 3pm. Yousefzadeh has directed dozen of plays, and her recent projects include Heartland by Gabriel Jason Dean, Utopia Minnesota by Meg Miroshnik, That High Lonesome Sound, and We Are Proud To Present A Presentation... by Jackie Sibblies Drury.
