Jessi Cotter ’16 and Blake Kile ’16 Stage Managers for “Must”
November 8, 2017
Alumni Jessi Cotter ’16 and Blake Kile ’16 are the Stage Management team for Must, a new Off-Broadway play about Billy the Kid by Charles Cissel produced by Bruce Willis and The Burgess Group. The production is directed by Gabriel Vega Weissman and it's running until November 19th at the St. Clements Theater.
"In the New Mexican desert, on the night before his murder, Billy the Kid is restless and alone. As he reflects on the relationships that have informed his life, he conjures his mother, his lover, Sheriff Pat Garrett and the man he thinks might be his father. Through memories, visions and feverish dreams, he confronts each of them. As he gains real insight into their lives and struggles, he discovers how he went from being a normal kid in New York City to being the notorious gunfighter Billy the Kid. At sunrise, he MUST face Garrett with this newfound understanding of life, purpose and infamy," according to the play's website.
Theatre Mania wrote, "Must looks beautiful. The sleek set by Alexander Woodward evokes the mountains of New Mexico, which is further highlighted by stunning atmospheric lighting by Zach Blane. Brooke Cohen Brown's costumes are period-specific and handsome, if a little too clean given the situation at hand"
Jessi Cotter is the Production Stage Manager and she has also worked on An Astronaut’s Tale (Encompass Opera/BAM), Comedy of Errors (Classic Stage Company), Kid Victory (Vineyard Theatre-PA), Master Harold… and the Boys (Signature-PA) and Hamilton (PA).
Blake Kile, the Assistant Stage Manager, has worked both Off-Broadway and on, across many different Regional Theaters. Highlights included: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Theater for a New Audience, Brian Sanders' Junk, LoftOpera, Metropolitan Ballet Company, and Uptown Players.
