Emily Murphy '17 Performing in TheatreWorks' Production of "The Wolves"

October 31, 2017

Alumna Emily Murphy '17 is currently performing in the 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist play, The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe at TheaterWorks in Hartford, CT. The production is directed by Eric Ort.

"The Wolves follows the ebb and flow of power and affection among the nine members of a girls’ indoor soccer team. Together they navigate the game, their lives and a growing understanding of a complicated world," TheatreWorks writes. The play premiered off-Broadway at The Playwrights Realm, following an engagement at New York Stage and Film, and development at Clubbed Thumb and Great Plains Theatre Conference. The New York Times said: “The scary, exhilarating brightness of raw adolescence emanates from every scene of this uncannily assured first play by Sarah DeLappe.”

“TheaterWorks Hartford is arguably the leading theater company in Connecticut when it comes to producing female-led theater with female directors, writers, and prominent female characters,” according to the Journal Inquirer's review. The review also mentions Emily's performance: "The performances are all great, Emily Murphy, who plays #25, is the team captain and portrays a dependence on her structure and authority to keep the team in line, particularly when interacting with #7 who challenges her position of power throughout."

The production was recently extended through November 12. You can find the performance schedule here.
