Justin Gillman appears in 'The Rover'

November 14, 2015

Acting alumnus Justin Gillman (’10) is appearing in the Shotgun Players’ production of Aphra Behn’s The Rover in Berkeley, California. The critically and commercially successful show has been extended through November 21.

Gillman plays Blunt in this production of the groundbreaking play, which was written in 1677. Behn, one of the most influential dramatists of the late seventeenth century, was also a celebrated poet and novelist. In The Rover she uses her characteristically incisive wit to puncture a wide range of stereotypes.

Gillman is also the co-founder and artistic director of Artists Repertory Company of San Francisco (ArtistsRepSF), where he recently acted in, directed and produced David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize–winning Rabbit Hole at EXIT Theatre. In 2016, ArtistsRepSF will produce a brand-new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt.

Gillman’s other acting credits include the American Conservatory Theater’s production of The Glass Menagerie, Shakespeare Santa Cruz’s productions of As You Like It and King Lear, and the SF Playhouse production of My Fair Lady, for which he received a BATCC nomination for his performance as Freddy Eynsford-Hill.
