Professor Deborah Eisenberg's 'Your Duck Is My Duck' Named Best Book of 2018
BY Zoe Contros Kearl, December 7, 2018
Your Duck Is My Duck, written by Professor Deborah Eisenberg, was on the Best Books of 2018 list in Bookforum December 2018 edition. New York Times staff critics critics also gave the novel a nod in their list of best books for 2018 reviewed in the publication.
“Dense, disorienting, disturbing, and sometimes prayer-like, Eisenberg’s stories run roughshod through received ideas of the rules for a 'well-made short story.' They are filled with nonsequential scenes, enormous time leaps, slippery perspective, capacious unresolved plots and subplots—no limits.” - Bookforum, starred review.
Professor Eisenberg’s new collection of short stories, Your Duck Is My Duck, received favorable reviews from The New York Times, The Washington Post and Harper's Review. “Eisenberg is a writer of legendary exactitude, and slowness. The first story she wrote, “Days,” took three years to complete. She now averages a story a year. Her new collection of six stories, Your Duck Is My Duck, is her first book of new material since 2006. She is always worth the wait.” - The New York Times
