Current Writing student Taylor Michael was selected as the inaugural A Public Space Editorial Fellow. This new fellowship for aspiring editors aims to support the next generation of editorial talent and encourages a more diverse publishing community. She was chosen among almost 200 applications and began her work in March.

According to A Public Space, “This nine-month program integrates education, experience, mentorship, and the opportunity for innovation, with the fellow receiving intensive training in all aspects of editing, from evaluating submissions through to publication of a piece.”

Regarding her selection, Michael said, “The fellowship at A Public Space has been one of my best professional experiences thus far in my career. I get to have ownership over the projects I'm working on and am developing a working knowledge of the publishing industry. I've grown a lot and it's only been about two months. I'm excited to see how I'll grow between now and the end of the year.”

A Public Space is an independent nonprofit publisher of an eponymous award-winning literary, arts, and culture magazine, and A Public Space Books.
