Current Student Halla Tryggvadottir '19 Assists New Play At NYC’s Cornelia Café
September 18, 2018
Current student Halla Tryggvadottir '19, who’s specializing in Theatre Management and Producing, will serve as the Marketing Director for an exciting new show titled, Café Play, produced by This Is Not A Theatre Company. Café Play “offers a unique glimpse into the lives of New Yorkers – from the waitress to the cockroach to the teacup on the table,” and “transforms the historic Cornelia Street Café into an immersive wonderland where a three-course dinner is served during the show.”
“I have always had an urge to tell stories, to open people’s eyes to important issues, and to create a space where they can forget about their everyday worries,” Halla said in a 2017 interview. “I also love turning small ideas into something bigger, and for that reason I became a producer.”
Tryggvadottir, who hails from Iceland, has produced plays, immersive theatre, dance, films, events and international festivals. Before starting her MFA, she was a board member and marketing director of Tjarnarbio Theatre, the center of the independent theatre scene in Iceland. In New York City, she’s interned for the immersive show, Sleep No More, and was the head marketing fellow of Columbia’s Theatre Department.
