Bash Doran ‘03 Executive Producer of HBO Show, 'Demimonde'

Playwriting Aumna Bash Doran ‘03 was named executive producer of J.J. Abrams’ new sci-fi HBO series, Demimonde. Doran will executive produce alongside Ben Stephenson and J.J. Abrams, who will write the show’s script. Demimonde is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. Bad Robot Productions past TV series include high-profile shows such as Lost, Alias, and Fringe.


Most recently, Doran wrote and created the British TV show, Jerusalem, a “six-part espionage epic.” Jerusalem premiered on Channel 4 in 2017. Doran has also written for Hulu’s The Looming Tower, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, NBC’s Smash, Showtime’s Masters of Sex, and the Netflix feature, Outlaw King.


As a playwright, Doran penned Kin (2011), commissioned by Lincoln Center, Parents’ Evening (2015), and The Mystery of Love and Sex (2015).


In an interview with Writers Theatre, Doran spoke of her various TV and stage projects, saying, “Essentially, the through line is, I get up every day and I write and it makes me happy. Even when it makes me furious.”
