Alumna Francisca Alegría '16 Set to Co-Write and Direct 'The House of Spirits'

The House of Spirits, a TV series adapted, co-written, and directed by alumna Francisca Alegría '16, will go into production for FilmNation Entertainment next year. The series, which is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Isabel Allende, will star Eva Longoria. 

The House of the Spirits is a family saga that follows the extraordinary lives of three generations of women in the Trueba family. Set in South America, this timeless drama, with hints of magical realism, takes us on an epic journey of fortune, intrigue, love, and fate throughout the 20th century.

Francisca Alegría is a film director and screenwriter from Chile. Her short film And All the Sky Fit in the Dead Cow’s Eye won Best International Short Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. Her debut feature, The Cow that Sang a Song About the Future, is currently in post-production and was selected at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and later workshopped at the Directors Lab. She is currently working on her next feature, The Mall, set in New Mexico.
