A Bright Room Called Day
By Tony Kushner

Directed by Scott Ebersold

A Bright Room Called Day focuses on Agnes Eggling and her filmmaker friends in 1930s Berlin interrupted by the present day cultural anxieties of Zillah Katz, a motor-mouth, Jewish, left-wing liberal, distraught with our generation’s sense of inertia. As the play begins, Agnes and her friends gather to celebrate New Year’s Eve on January 1, 1932; the day Adolf Hitler is appointed Chancellor of Germany. They cannot initially imagine that much will come of the political changes but eventually all realize that the unthinkable has become the new normal.
