Theatre Arts: Twentieth Century Theatre II

Preference is given to second-year students. This course will look at a wide range of contemporary playwrights of several generations. The thrust of the course will be to give students a close look at the most exciting voices and trends in contemporary American playwriting, and look at the role of the playwright in today's theatre.

Representative authors may include Tony Kushner, Tina Howe, Craig Lucas, John Patrick Shanley, David Mamet, Wallace Shawn, August Wilson, Suzan-Lori Parks, Jose Rivera, David Lindsay-Abaire, and a rotating selection of new and early-career playwrights.
