In this course, students are introduced to the discipline of dramaturgy and its relationship to the professional theatre. Through in-depth play analysis and theoretical and historical readings, students will gain an understanding of the evolution of dramaturgy in practice and contemporary applications of dramaturgical insights and skills.

Finally, they will work through the process of balancing critical and communicative skills, taste and the personal investment necessary to develop a coherent point of view on the making of a play or piece of theatre.
