Written by Otso Huopaniemi & directed by Irene Aho. After spending almost two decades in Finland, a Finnish playwright who grew up in New York returns to the U.S. with his singer-songwriter fiancée. While the couple tries to iron out their differences concerning the future of their relationship, they find themselves living amongst a peculiar Finnish community in the Bronx, headed by two tough ladies. In the course of the play, written by Otso Huopaniemi, the focus shifts from a deeply personal perspective to the power struggles and inner conflicts of the so-called Finnish Mafia. As the unlikely neighbors bathe in an illegal sauna, two unexpected love triangles collide and new alliances are forged.
The Finnish Mafia in the Bronx features well-known Finnish actor Tuomas Hiltunen (Confessions of a Shopaholic, 2009) and freelance actress Heli Siryiö, among others.
