The Cemetery Club, written and directed by Columbia University School of the Arts Film Program alumnus Yitz Brilliant ('08SOA) and produced by Film Program MFA student Kelly Choyke and alumnus Geoffrey Booth ('09SOA), and co-produced by alumnus Stuart Weinstock ('09SOA), has advanced to the national finals in the Narrative category for the 37th Annual Student Academy Awards, a competition for college and university filmmakers.
In total, 31 films from 21 colleges and universities were selected as finalists in four categories: Alternative, Animation, Documentary and Narrative. The Cemetery Club is one of 9 finalists in Narrative. The winners will be announced at a ceremony June 12 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.
The Cemetery Club recently won both the IndieFlix online audience choice award and the PBIFF festival audience award at the Palm Beach International Film Festival in April.
