• Project Nim Receives Nomination for Orange Prize
Project Nim, co-produced by Maureen Ryan (’92), has been nominated for Best Documentary at the Orange British Academy Film Awards. The awards take place on Sunday, February 12th, at the Royal Opera House in London. Project Nim has also been nominated by the Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary. Geoffrey Quan (’08) was Production Coordinator on the film, Markus Kirschner (’09) was Production Designer, and Jean-Marceau Secheret (4th year Producing) and Andrew Hauser (4th year Producing) were production interns. more ►
• Museum of Modern Art presents an Evening with Faculty Tom Kalin
MoMA presents ‘An Evening with Tom Kalin and Doveman’ on February 6th. The collaboration between musician Thomas Bartlett (Doveman) and filmmaker Tom Kalin began as a series of short films inspired by Doveman’s 2009 album The Conformist. Their ongoing project explores the intersection of recorded and live music, digital composition, and projected film. more ►
• Feature Film by Alumni Nominated for Six Genie Awards
The Whistleblower, directed and co-written by Larysa Kondracki (’01 GS/Film Studies, former MFA candidate) and co-written by Eilis Kirwan (’04) has received six Genie nominations from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. The film, which stars Rachel Weisz is nominated in the following categories: Best Motion Picture; Achievement in Direction; Original Screenplay; Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role; Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role; and Achievement in Music. more ►

Marshall Lewy’s ('06) film California Solo has been selected by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the 10 Best Musical Films at Sundance 2012. more ►
• Playwriting Alum Wins 2012 Laurents/Hatcher Award
Alum Jon Kern is the recipient of the esteemed Laurents/Hatcher Award, which provides the winning playwright with a $50,000 cash prize and $100,000 in funding. more ►

Pirronne Yousefzadeh ('09 Directing) directs a new ensemble-devised piece inspired by No Child at Two River Theater Company, from Jan. 21- 22. more ►
• Alumnus' Play Another Life Featured at The Festival of Conscience
Written and directed by Karen Malpede (Theatre History and Dramatic Literature 1972) and starring Susan Hyon ('06 Acting), Another Life will be featured at the festival which presents a series of conversations and debates featuring prominent lawyers, activists, writers on the front lines defending civil liberties.
