Columbia University School of the Arts Writing Program alumna Tracy K. Smith ('97SOA) was featured on PBS NewsHour May 16. She read from her new collection, Life on Mars (Graywolf Press, 2011).
Smith is also the author of Duende (Graywolf Press, 2007), winner of the James Laughlin Award and the Essence Literary Award, and The Body’s Question (Graywolf Press, 2003), winner of the 2002 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. She is also the recipient of a 2004 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and a 2005 Whiting Writer's Prize, and was a finalist for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work. She lives in Brooklyn.
