Two Columbia University School of the Arts Theatre Arts Program playwriting alumni have been nominated for Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play: Bathsheba Doran ('03SOA) for Kin, and Tommy Nohilly ('06SOA) for Blood From a Stone.

Winners of the awards will be announced May 16.

Kin premiered at Playwrights Horizons in winter 2011, and Blood From a Stone--which was Nohilly's thesis play at the School of the Arts, presented in the 2006 New Voices New Plays Festival--was produced by The New Group, also in winter 2011 and starring Ethan Hawke. Both productions garnered rave reviews, particularly Kin in The New York Times, and Blood From a Stone in The New Yorker.
