“Outside Mediation” intends to examine the influence of print, photography, television, and the internet on visual art, while exploring its effects on social, physical and affective levels. Visual art by definition is a media, but it is continuously being mediated by outside influences. The mediated work calls into question the relationship of the work and the form used to portray it. The original mediation, that is from artist’s imagination to object, is homogeneous to this form/content relationship. If the artist is the product of a particular experience, the method of conveying this experience calls into question the role of the artist in society.
