Afro Punk Pictures presents The Triptych, a short documentary film series that highlights the work of Faculty Sanford Biggers, along with fellow artists Wangechi Mutu, and Barron Claiborne. Two members of the Visual Arts faculty at Columbia University School of the Arts—Kara Walker and Kiki Smith—have been named 2012 Fellows by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Smith and Walker are among the 220 artists, scholars, scientists and writers elected to the 2012 Class by the prestigious honor society.more
The American Academy of Arts and Letters accounced Visual Arts Faculty Kara Walker as a newly elected member for 2012. Members of the Academy are chosen for life and have included leading figures in American arts, literature and music. They are organized into committees that award annual prizes to help up-and-coming artists.more
Columbia University School of the Arts is proud to announce that alumnus Gilad Ratman (’09) has been chosen to represent Israel at the 2013 Venice Biennale. Ratman, who lives and works in New York and Tel Aviv, is the youngest of the artists selected to represent Israel at this prestigious exhibition.more
Sarah Sze, Professor of Visual Arts at Columbia University School of the Arts, has been chosen to represent the United States at La Biennale di Venezia in 2013. Her work will be presented by Holly Block and the Bronx Museum of the Arts in the 55th International Art Exhibition.

Iman Issa is one of the featured thirty-four artists, artist groups, and temporary collectives exhibiting at The 2012 New Museum Triennial. Totaling over fifty participants, these artists have been born between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, many of whom have never before exhibited in the US.more
