Rwanda: Beyond The Deadly Pit, directed, produced and edited by Gilbert Ndahayo (3rd year directing), has been nominated for Best Documentary at the 2012 African Movie Academy Awards, which is Africa’s most prestigious awards for filmmakers.
The film is also in selection at the Africa World Documentary Film Festival.

20th Century Fox recently announced that alumnus Simon Kinberg (’03) will be writing the script for the sequel to "X-Men: First Class," which is to be produced by Bryan Singer and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

The film is written and directed by Christina Choe (4th year Directing), produced by Esra Saydam (4th year Producing), co-produced by Mimi Jeffries (4th year Directing) and Gerry Kim (’11), and edited by David Gutnik (5th year Screenwriting).

Alumnus Bogdan George Apetri's ('06SOA) "Outbound" became the most nominated Romanian film of 2011 at the Gopos, the Romanian Oscars, with 12 nominations including Best Film and Best Director. Apetri is also adjunct faculty in the Film Program.

"Girl in Progress", directed by alumna Patricia Riggen (’03 SOA) and starring Eva Mendes, Matthew Modine and Patricia Arquette, is being distributed by Pantelion Films and will open nationwide on April 27th.

Alumnus Jack Paglen’s (’06 SOA) untitled feature film has been acquired by Alcon Entertataiment. Pre-production has begun on the film, which will mark the directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister.
